I constantly get asked, why don’t you eat meat? Why are you vegan? I prefer the term plant based, but it is essentially a vegan diet, with more of a focus on eating plans as opposed to overly processed faux meats etc. The thing is, it’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle.
I’m planning on doing this for the rest of my life.
In the past year, I have done so much research and reading into plant based, whole food diets and it would be impossible to give you a full answer right this minute about why I am choosing to be plant based. There is just too much information, too much research, too many benefits to name. Also, I’m still learning. Everyday I learn something new.
That is why, when I came across this video today, I had to share it. It explains really well ‘Why Plant Based’. The speaker in the video is Rip Esselstyn, a former American firefighter and triathlete. He has been plant strong for approximately 25 years now, and his father is Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn who is one of the most influential researchers and promoters of the plant based diet. In this video Rip talks about the American diet and American health crises, but the sad truth it applies to Australians as well.
