Cacao, Avocado and Chia Seed Mousse

I’ve always hated avocados. The texture, the colour, the flavour…gross. Last year I started this thing where I was determined to like more vegetables, so I would just start incorporating them into the foods I was making, and you know what surprise, surprise…it worked! I now eat avocado, and regularly at that.

One of the major things I’m working on at the moment, is balancing my hormones. A naturopath told me last year that the pimples along my chin are ‘very hormonal’, and I’ve noticed a few other signs that indicate I have some sort of hormone imbalance. Now that I’m off all chemical beauty products and only using natural products, my chin has broken out again (however, not even a quarter as bad as last year when my whole face broke out).

When I saw Don Tolman talk on the weekend, he was talking about foods ‘signatures’ or signs of nature. Meaning, that a whole foods shape corresponded with a part of the human body and will help to heal that part of the body. Where this leads is that he explained that an avocado look like the womb and cervix of the female. Some research suggests that eating one avocado a week can help to balance hormones. So guess who is going to attempt to eat one avocado a week? This guy (girl)! As a side note it takes nine months to grow an avocado from blossom to fruit, and nine months grow a baby!

In my quest to consume more avocado, I decided to make a mousse and snack on it throughout the day. This recipe is literally so easy! I just chucked a whole heap of things in my blender and hoped for the best! And, it’s wonderful, so creamy and so good for you!

Cacao, Avocado and Chia Seed Mousse

Cacao, Avocado and Chia Mousse

1 avocado
4 tbsp. cacao powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 banana
100ml maple syrup
100ml oat milk
2 tbsp. chia seeds

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender
  2. Blend until smooth
  3. Pour into a small mixing bowl
  4. Mix through the chia seeds
  5. Refrigerate for a few hours, or overnight
